STANDING UP FOR DONEGAL: RETAILER SAYS ‘WE’RE DOING WELL’

first_imgTHE MANAGER of two of Letterkenny’s major retailers has revealed that business in both stores is ‘excellent’ and insisted the town is doing well.Michelle Yeates is Area Support Manager for both Menarys and Tempest in the town’s Retail Park. And she says the retailers are continuing to win new business, despite the downturn. Said Michelle: “I know there have been Press reports recently about retail in Donegal but in Tempest and Menarys sales are on the same levels as last year. We may well be bucking the trend, but that’s our experience so far in 2011.“In Tempest for example we have added lots of new customers because of the fashion range available which cannot be bought elsewhere. Brands like Top Shop, Wallis, Oasis, Argento and Benefit continue to win new business.“We have added men’s fashion retailer DV8 to the offering and that has really taken off.”Menarys too is seeing good sales across the different sections in the store. “Our homewares in Menarys are doing extremely well,” said Ms Yeates.“Things are very positive in the store. We have added the ladies fashion range ‘Klass’ to the shop and that is doing very well and our wide range of other offerings at Menarys are all selling well.”Asked why both shops are doing so well despite the economic climate, the Area Support Manager – a former senior member of staff at Arnotts in Dublin – insisted: “We always aim to keep our core loyal shoppers happy and that’s part of the success this year so far.“We have also added significantly to our customer base in the last few months through innovative promotions which have really caught the eye. The ‘Beat the Clock’ initiatives on some Saturdays where customers can get extra discounts at certain times has proved very successful.“We also have some exciting changes ahead at Menarys which we know our customers will love; we are really looking forward to that. “I know the economic climate has changed, but we have changed to meet those challenges and we are delighted with the outcome.“Donegal is fighting back – and we are happy to be part of that.”STANDING UP FOR DONEGAL: RETAILER SAYS ‘WE’RE DOING WELL’ was last modified: April 21st, 2011 by gregShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:donegaleconomyletterkennyMenarysMichelle YeatesretailTempestlast_img read more
