MAN FORCED OUT OF DERRY BY TERRORISTS JAILED FOR CO DONEGAL HIJACKING

first_imgA homeless man expelled from Derry by dissident terrorists has been jailed for his part in a terrifying carjacking incident in Co Donegal.Brendan Meehan, 21, of no fixed abode, was jailed for assault and hijacking a car in Muff last weekend. His solicitor Frank Dorrian told Letterkenny District Court that Meehan’s life had been ‘extremely sad’ and he had ended up on this side of the Border as a result of threats. “He has been in and out of care for his entire life and when he was forced out of Derry by elements there last weekend he literally found himself in Muff as he had nowhere else to go,” said Mr Dorrian.“He had no money and became involved in this incident.”The court heard that last weekend a local man in Muff was forced to stop his car when Meehan appeared in the middle of the road. The victim was forced out of his car and Meehan and two juveniles took the vehicle. The car was later found crashed just outside Muff.Gardai arrested Meehan and the two juveniles. The youths were later handed back to social workers in Derry City.Judge Paul Kelly sentenced Meehan to three months in prison for assault and four months in prison for hijacking the car.The sentences are to run concurrently.MAN FORCED OUT OF DERRY BY TERRORISTS JAILED FOR CO DONEGAL HIJACKING was last modified: January 31st, 2013 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:car-jackDerryLetterkenny District Courtmufflast_img read more
