Volleyball camp looking to foster love of the game

first_imgAlong with running this camp, Bennett has coached a variety of volleyball teams, including Summer Games and Provincial competitors. The camp is aimed at junior players, to give them basic skills and encourage their love for the game. They’ll learn forearm passing, overhead passing, and serving, among other essential skills, in what Bennett says it to “try and teach the game, as opposed to just putting the ball over the net”. Bennett says it’s key to get children interested in the sport when they’re young. “The numbers seem to really drop as (players) get older, so I think it is very important to keep the sport going, just because it is more of a technical game,” he believes. “I think it’s important to get that base early on.”- Advertisement – There are still spots available for registration, with forms available at Ernie’s Sports Experts. The cost for the week is $150 and includes a camp t-shirt. Participants also get 20 per cent off volleyball gear at Ernie’s during the week.
