UEFA announce Champions League finals in Saint Petersburg, Munich, London

first_img0Shares0000The Champions League trophy stands on display during the group stage draw ceremony © AFP/File / Valery HACHELjubljana, Slovenia, Sep 24 – The 2021 UEFA Champions League final will be played in Saint Petersburg, European football’s governing body announced on Tuesday. The venues for the next three finals were revealed at UEFA’s Executive Committee meeting in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, with Munich being awarded the 2022 showpiece and the 2023 final being given to Wembley. In awarding the venues for the next three years, UEFA have had to take into account not just the likely demand for match tickets but also the importance of hotel rooms and transport infrastructure. That means there are a limited number of cities around Europe capable of successfully staging a match of such magnitude.“The chosen venues have proper mobility, hotels and everything else. Where we have a problem, and probably will have a problem anywhere, is that sometimes hotels take advantage of the fact the Champions League final is in a certain city,” admitted UEFA president Aleksandar Ceferin.“I am sure that if you check those three cities in half an hour you will see that hotel prices have already started to rise.“This is a problem but it is hard for us to influence. That is why we want to go to such big cities with so many hotels that in the end you can choose.”“Those venues are big cities, interesting cities, accessible for the fans and with very nice stadiums,” he added, although he said he “cannot do any promises for now” in terms of increasing ticket allocations for supporters.– Return to Russia –This season’s final will be played in Istanbul, before hosting is given to the 68,000-capacity Gazprom Arena in Saint Petersburg. The venue, complete with a retractable roof, was built ahead of the 2018 World Cup held in Russia. It hosted seven matches at that tournament, including France’s semi-final win over Belgium and will also host four games at Euro 2020.It will be the second Champions League final to be played in Russia after Manchester United beat Chelsea in Moscow to win the trophy in 2008.The 70,000-seat Allianz Arena in Munich is also a host venue for Euro 2020 and staged the 2012 Champions League final when Bayern Munich lost on penalties to Chelsea. The 2023 final will be the eighth to be held at Wembley, with the iconic 90,000-seat London venue also hosting the semi-finals and final of next year’s European Championship.Meanwhile, European football’s governing body also revealed that the 2021 Europa League final will be played in Seville, at Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. The Spanish city was chosen ahead of Georgian capital Tbilisi as the game returns to western Europe — after being staged in Baku last season, next year’s final will go to the Polish city of Gdansk. The 2021 UEFA Super Cup match — between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League — will be played in Belfast.UEFA said VAR, which made its Champions League debut in the last 16 last season, will be introduced to the Europa League for the knockout rounds this term.A third European club competition that is set to start in 2021 will be known as the UEFA Europa Conference League.0Shares0000(Visited 12 times, 1 visits today)last_img read more

GOVERNMENT MUST PROTECT CORPORATION TAX RATE, INSISTS MEP GALLAGHER

first_imgThe Government must dig its heels in to protect our ‘valuable corporate tax rate’, Pat the Cope Gallagher insisted today. The MEP has urged An Taoiseach Enda Kenny to retain the strong stance held by the previous Government on the issue of CCCTB.Speaking from Brussels, Mr Gallagher commented: “The concessions sought on tax are more to do with the domestic political agenda in France and Germany than the stability of the euro. “Fianna Fáil in Government strongly opposed any changes to our corporate tax base. Over many years, our opposition to CCCTB has been firm and unwavering.“It is now up to the new Government to hold that strong position to protect our economic interests. There is no such thing as a compromise here. Giving in a little bit now will ultimately lead to a complete undermining of our ability to retain and attract foreign direct investment.“It is widely reported that some of the larger EU countries are seeking tax concessions from Ireland in return for an interest rate reduction.”Mr Gallagher added: “While I support any effort by the Government to seek a cut in interest rates, this issue has now been taken off the agenda at this week’s summit. “It seems clear that Europe is frantically attempting to dampen expectations of a possible cut. All the while, Ireland remains under pressure regarding CCCCTB, for what I believe has more to do with domestic political concerns in France and Germany, than the financial stability of the Euro.”GOVERNMENT MUST PROTECT CORPORATION TAX RATE, INSISTS MEP GALLAGHER was last modified: March 25th, 2011 by gregShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

UK firm enters SA coal industry

first_img11 August 2008UK-based London Mining has entered the local coal mining sector with a US$120-million (about R920-million) acquisition of a 50.5% stake in DMC Energy from local diversified exploration and mining company Delta Mining Consolidated (DMC).“This acquisition will form the basis of London Mining’s new coal division, which we hope to grow rapidly in the future,” London Mining MD Christopher Brown said in a statement last week.“We are particularly excited about entering into the coal business due to the strong demand from steel making and power generation that has resulted in major price increases this year, in a similar manner to iron ore.”Following an internal reorganisation by DMC, Johannesburg-based DMC Energy will own 70% of Ashante Mineral Resource, which is based in Mpumalanga province, and 69.65% of DMC Coal, which operates in Limpopo province.Access to infrastructureAccording to the statement, Ashante Mineral Resource owns the Rietkuil coal project, which has an inferred in-situ resource of up to 288-million tonnes of coal, is situated just 13km from Eskom’s Kendal power station and 43km from the recently refurbished Grootvlei power station, and has access to rail, road and electricity infrastructure on site.DMC Coal owns the Limpopo project, which has a potential of 426-million tonnes of metallurgical and thermal coal, and the Pixley Ka Seme coal and torbanite project. That project includes a deposit in excess of 234-million tonnes of metallurgical coal, steam coal and anthracite, as well as 73-million tonnes of torbanite, a high-yielding oil shale with an estimated yield of one barrel of synthetic crude per tonne of shale.“DMC Energy has also secured an irrevocable 40-metric-ton-per-annum port allocation through the future Porto du Bella Vista port in Mozambique, and is in the process of acquiring additional coal exploration assets in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Swaziland [from DMC],” the statement read.“Rietkuil is being fast tracked into production and the other projects have substantial export potential through the new port in Mozambique,” Brown said. “This acquisition will add substantial value to London Mining.”SAinfo reporter Would you like to use this article in your publicationor on your website?See: Using SAinfo materiallast_img read more

Confirmed MH370 wreckage shows it did not have a controlled landing.

first_imgThe condition of new wreckage, which authorities believe is almost certain to have come from Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 370, shows the plane would have hit the water at high speed and disintegrated on impact. The find by a South African family in Mozambique – possibly the most significant discovery of wreckage from MH370 so far – would dispel the theories that the pilot tried to make a controlled landing.A serial number on the wreckage – dubbed the fourth piece – matches an upper main wing panel and shows it is almost certainly from MH370 say experts.A South African family that recently were on holiday in Mozambique came across the piece in December but only realised the significance after another suspected piece of debris – the second – was found on a sandbank off Mozambique two weeks ago.The new fourth piece bears a striking resemblance to the second found by American MH370 hunter Blaine Gibson. The family are now in contact with South African and Australian authorities.South Africa’s Civil Aviation Authority’s Accident and Incident Investigations Division has confirmed to East Coast Radio Newswatch they are sending an official to pick up the debris, before passing it on to international investigators looking into the disappearance of the plane.AirlineRatings understands its will be flown to Australia for identification. The second piece found by Mr Gibson arrived in Malaysia yesterday and is being sent onto Australia over the weekend for examination.Another piece – the third – which carries the grey and blue Malaysia Airlines colours was discovered on Reunion Island last week.In a twist, that piece which was now been handed over to police, was found by the Johnny Begue, who discovered the first piece of debris – a “flaperon” off MH370 in July last year.Mr Begue told AFP that he was out jogging on the shore when he found the object measuring about 40 by 20 centimetres which had a blue mark on the surface and was grey underneath. This piece is being flown to France for examination.Last week UWA oceanographer Charitha Pattiaratchi said drift modelling showed that debris would wash up first at Reunion Island then the East Coast of AfricaProfessor Pattiaratchi said that “debris would start appearing in the Mozambique Channel from September last year.”The latests finds, if confirmed from MH370,  confirm with out any doubt that the international search team are looking in the right area, 1800km west-south-west of Perth, for MH370 according to Professor Pattiaratchi.last_img read more

Echoing Salesforce.com, Microsoft Announces CRM SaaS and App Marketplace

first_imgCognitive Automation is the Immediate Future of… Microsoft announced at its Worldwide Partners Conference today that it will launch a CRM SaaS service and an app marketplace as parts of CRM 2011, itself a part of Microsoft Dynamics. CRM 2011, formerly codenamed CRM5, will be available for beta testing in September, starting with the online CRM service and Dynamics Marketplace. The announcement comes as Microsoft is embroiled in a patent battle with CRM competitor Salesforce.com, which has been offering a CRM SaaS and app marketplace for years.Microsoft says CRM 2011 will offer deeper integration with Microsoft Office and SharePoint, more visualization and dashboard tools, and a more connected, social experience.Tight integration with other Microsoft products will be a key advantage for CRM 2011 over tools from competitors such as Salesforce.com, Oracle and SAP. Dynamics Marketplace will be a searchable catalog of applications and professional services to extend the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics, similar to Salesforce.com’s App Exchange. In May, Microsoft filed a lawsuit against Salesforce.com for patent infringement, leading Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff to call Microsoft “ally thugs” and to countersue Microsoft for infringing some of its own patents.Last year, Gartner reported that SAP was the market leader in CRM in 2008, followed by Oracle in second and Salesforce.com in third. Microsoft was fourth. Over 50 “DroidDream” Malware Apps Removed from Android Market

first_imgWhy Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting Tags:#Google#news#NYT#security#web sarah perez Over 50 applications found to contain malware were removed from the Android Market yesterday, after being downloaded approximately 50,000 times. The apps contained a type of malware called “DroidDream,” which was able to use exploit code to root (take administrative control over) the phones where it was installed and steal sensitive data from the devices. In addition, a second APK (an Android application file) was also found hidden inside the code, which could steal additional data.Dozens of Malware Apps Discovered on Android Market Related Posts center_img The takeaway from this incident for Android end users is this: you can’t trust that any given application is safe. Read the permissions before installing apps, and if you can’t be bothered with that, use an additional security program from a firm like Lookout or one of its competitors instead.Image credits & sources: Lookout, Android Police, Reddit The malware was initially reported via the social news site Reddit, where it was later picked up by the blog Android Police. The blog had their “resident hacker” Justin Case further analyze the malware-infected applications for details. He found that the apps root the device after installation, which means they give the malware creator complete administrative control over the device. Although disguised as popular games and utilities, the infected apps actually enabled the creator to retrieve sensitive data from the phones. Case was able to confirm that the apps stole product ID, model, partner/provider, language, country and userID, but he also discovered that the additional, hidden app had the ability to download more code.“There’s no way to know what the app does after it’s installed,” wrote Aaron Gringrich on Android Police, in reference to what that functionality could mean, “but the possibilities are endless.”Over 50 Apps, Not 21, Found to be InfectedAccording to security firm Lookout, makers of a malware-prevention application for Android phones, the original report of 21 applications by Reddit and Android Police was somewhat incomplete. To date, more than 50 applications have been found to be infected with this new malware called DroidDream, it reported. After analyzing the 21 apps reported by Reddit user Lompolo, the firm found a large number of applications from other developers that also contained the same malware. Lookout shared its findings with Google and are now reporting that the apps have been pulled from the Android Market. However, Google has not yet activated its remote removal system to wipe the malware-laden apps off of end users’ devices, says Lookout. That means that many of the estimated 50,000 to 200,000 installations of these apps are still out there on users’ phones. Lookout notes that it has also updated its security software programs via an over-the-air update to remove all known instances of DroidDream and has implemented a specific signature that should block other variants of these apps in the future. What Were the Malware Apps?According to Lookout, the following application publishers and apps were found to contain the malware (see below). You’ll note that many of the application names are similar to other popular and more well-known Android applications.Full list of infected applications published by “Myournet”:Falling DownSuper Guitar SoloSuper History EraserPhoto EditorSuper Ringtone MakerSuper Sex PositionsHot Sexy VideosChess????_FalldownHilton Sex SoundScreaming Sexy Japanese GirlsFalling Ball DodgeScientific CalculatorDice Roller????Advanced Currency ConverterApp Uninstaller????_PewPewFunny PaintSpider Man???Full list of infected applications published by “Kingmall2010?:Bowling TimeAdvanced Barcode ScannerSupre Bluetooth TransferTask Killer ProMusic BoxSexy Girls: JapaneseSexy LegsAdvanced File ManagerMagic Strobe Light??????????Panzer Panic????Mr. Runner??????Advanced App to SDSuper Stopwatch & TimerAdvanced Compass LevelerBest password safe???????Full list of infected apps under the developer name “we20090202?:Finger RacePianoBubble ShootAdvanced Sound ManagerMagic Hypnotic SpiralFunny FaceColor Blindness TestTie a TieQuick NotesBasketball Shot NowQuick Delete ContactsOmok Five in a RowSuper Sexy Ringtones??????????????Questions About Google’s Response Time and Reporting ResourcesOn the one hand, Google acted quickly after Case reached out to a contact at Google about the apps in question. In less than five minutes after his report, the apps were pulled from the Market. Unfortunately, an application developer attempting to reach out to Google through more official channels had worse luck.According to reddit user codingcaveman, the developer of Guitar Solo Lite, whose app was ripped off as “Super Guitar Solo” by the malware creator, he had reached out to Google about this same issue over a week ago. “I notified Google about this through all the channels I could think of: DCMA notice, malicious app reporting, Android Market Help…they have yet to respond,” he wrote. This raises concerns that Google’s mechanisms for protecting Android users from threats such as these simply aren’t good enough at the present time. While it’s commendable that Google jumped quickly when a personal contact of Case’s was notified of the threat, the official channels should be just as responsive – especially if the developer doing the reporting is one whose own business is being directly affected by the malware’s continued existence. This eBook will help you Seize Your Sales Destiny, with or without a manager. Download Now The little voice inside your head might say, “I am tired of being rejected when I ask for a meeting.” The little voice feels like the “no” is a personal rejection that invalidates their worth as a human being, making something out of what is really nothing. The larger voice recognizes that a failed attempt to acquire a meeting is nothing more than feedback. The feedback provided by the answer “no” only means that the person receiving the call did not believe the value you offered in exchange for their time was favorable to them. The larger voice says, “I’ll change up my offer and try again later and, eventually, I will get a meeting.”The little voice says, “You didn’t lose that deal. If it weren’t for your irrational competitor’s low price, you’d have surely won.” That tiny voice absolves you of all responsibility for the loss, protecting your ego from being bruised. It reminds you that you are a good and competent person and there was nothing you could do.The larger voice tells you, “You didn’t create enough of a preference to block your irrational competitor, and you didn’t address the difference in strategic outcomes when clients underinvest. Next time, we’ll move that up in the conversation and do a better job blocking their strategy—or at least making it hard for them.” The big voice isn’t dissuaded from taking responsibility, instead it looks to what you might do differently in the future. The little voice says, “You can prospect tomorrow. You have plenty of time, and nothing bad is going to happen when you put opportunity creation off for another day. No one is even going to notice.” The small chirping voice always sells tomorrow because it prefers comfort over almost everything. It’s willing to trade comfort for your reaching your full potential.Your larger voice says, “You are paying the price today for what you want tomorrow,” quite the opposite of what the small voice sells. The larger voice is proactive and takes the initiative, doing what needs to be done today efficiently and without fail. The larger voice would have you pay in full and have what you want, knowing that procrastination only pulls the future you want further away from you. It’s important you pay attention to what you say to yourself. Your results and your future are going to first manifest in your mind, and then they will manifest in the world. Choose carefully which voice you will allow to design your future.last_img read more
