The 2am total was the most the appeal has raised on the evening, but as usual the final figure will be much higher, as the public sends in the money raised at fundraising events.The seven-hour broadcast was co-hosted by Terry Wogan and Fearne Cotton, and linked BBC centres all over the country.During the telethon BT handled nearly 212,000 calls from viewers across the country. The largest of the call centres was based on the 34th floor of BT Tower in London.
